Java Communications API PocketPC/WinCE Driver

A driver implementation for the Java™ Communications API (javax.comm) for the Pocket PC architecture.

This driver supports RS232 (serial) ports (and possibly IRCOM but untested). It has been tested on the Compaq iPaq 3630/3850 (StrongARM processor, PocketPC 2000/2002) with the Jeode EVM & SUNs PersonalJava™ Runtime Environment 1.1, Beta 1. It is available for the MIPS (R4000 Compatible), SH3, SH4 & StrongARM processors, subject to this license

The driver is in its early stages and not all functionality is supported, however it is still useful.

The following functionality is supported by this driver

• Open and claim ownership of ports.
• Perform synchronous and asynchronous I/O on ports.
• Enumerate ports available on the system.
• Receive Beans-style events describing communication port state changes.
• Changing timeouts

The following functionality is supported by the standard driver in the Sun Java™ Communications API but is not yet supported or implemented in this driver

• Resolve port ownership contention between multiple applications.
• receiveThreshold and receiveFraming
